Alex George of Wichita, Kansas, rolled games of 290, 279 and 279 for an 848 series at the South Point Bowling Plaza on July 5 to take the lead in Regular Singles at the 2022 USBC Open Championships in Las Vegas.
After a spare in the first frame of Game 1, George delivered 19 consecutive strikes before leaving a 10 pin in the eighth frame of Game 2. He rolled 12 more strikes in a row to step up in his final frame with a chance to break the tournament's all-time record of 862 set by USBC Hall of Famer Bo Goergon in 2009.
