  1. The Pro pins weighed as much as the pins we used in our average bowling centers. Watch the telecasts from pre-1985. Some have pins as light as 3 pound 2 ounces. They produced lots of mixing strikes and some messengers. After that, the minimum weight was 3 pound 6 ounces. That’s the weight of today’s pro pins.

  2. the gold pins were 3LB 10 OZ all in stringent weight requirement, there was no variance in these pins.

  3. There’s no mention of laminated pins and controlled weight, which makes as much of a difference. Of course I know they had to squeeze these tips in while the bowlers were resting.
