  1. He was the first man to convert the 7-10 split on TV, wasn’t he? The bowling world has suffered a very tragic loss. Rest in peace, Mark. 🙁

    1. @Rahal Fan girl I remember watching both his and John Mazza’s 7-10 conversions on YouTube back when I was a kid, I was just so amazed by it back then and I still am to this day. What an absolute legend.

  2. Heart out to you Mark. The few times I got to bowl with you in Pro Am’s and other tournaments was a wonderful treat and you treated me like a great friend. I’m so sorry your health stole away your physical talent for bowling but your love for bowling never kept you away from it. I pray you can now once again bowl with all your past friends and Angels in Heaven. God Bless you brother!

  3. Loved to watch Mark on ABC’s PBT telecasts Saturday afternoons. He was a natural. Fearless competitor! May he rest in peace and I’m forever grateful for the memories!

  4. A true legend. I watched Mark through the 70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s week after week dominating the PBA tour. The original cranker. Every week it was either Roth, Anthony or Holman up on top. I remember him making the 7-10 split live on ABC TV on the Pro Tour. What a thrill that was. Rest In Peace Mark Roth you’ll never be forgotten.

    1. I remember watching Mark Roth make the 7-10 split live on TV too. I think that he was the first professional bowler to make the 7-10 split live on TV. He was a great bowler. I wonder how he died. When was his birthday? He was such a nice man too. 🎳

    2. @Lynette Palecek yes he was the first to convert the 7-10 and only right hander to do it. 3 lefties have done it since. He was born Apr. 10th 1951. He died of congestive heart failure and possibly pneumonia. A sad day. Indeed.

    3. @1lenny Thank you very much for the information. Yes, I was sad to hear about his passing. I remember watching him bowl quite often in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. I also remember watching him be the co-narrator like the way that Randy Pedersen did in the 2000s. He was a great bowler, great narrator, and a very humble man. He will be greatly missed. I’m glad that his wife Denise, now widow, let us know. We all need to pray for her and the rest of his family. 🙏

  5. I grew up watching the PBA as probably most of us here did. What a great time watching all the greats! Wasn’t Mark the only bowler who never took the same number of steps in his delivery? I miss this stuff.

  6. Oh this is so heartbreaking. We will miss you greatly Mark. The next PBA telecast with Randy or Marshall Holman is going to be hard to get through..

  7. My dad told me he grew up watching Mark Roth and that’s what got him into bowling, and well being his son he got me into it. RIP to one of the best

  8. To crank it like he did was something I aimed for, growing up. Such an inspiration to so many. RIP to an icon

  9. Iconic competitor, father of power, and a true gentleman… He even took time to play with a 9 year-old me in the Showboat pool w/ a beachball. And he fought so hard to live these past 12 years. Now you can rest Mark. God Bless! ❤🎳🏆❗

  10. One of the greatest players, one of the most historic players, and part of the best doubles team ever. RIP Legend!!!

  11. May his memory be a blessing. Spent Saturdays watching this great competitor and, of course, we were inspired to stretch our grips and crank away like Mark Roth. What an amazing career he had.

  12. I watched Mark when I was a teenager on ABC . I got into bowling because of him and his style and professionalism. I’m still bowling 43 years later. Thanks for inspiring me Mark! Rest In Peace 🙏

  13. He always attacked.
He was one of a kind.
He was my favorite interview. “Now, we have bowling balls made of glue; the pins are covered with the same stuff as golf balls…”
    R.I.P…the great Mark Roth.
