After announcing this morning (March 17, 2021) the 2021 PBA Scorpion Championship would be his last event on the PBA Tour, 37-time champion and Hall of Famer Pete Weber took Tom Daugherty to a decisive fifth game in Round of 16 best-of-five match play. Here's Weber's final frame.
Weber still plans to bowl in PBA50 and PBA Regional events.

I’ve met Walter before back in 2019, he’s a nice guy, I’f I could meet pete too it would be awesome. I’m 17 now going to be 18 soon, I look up to these men a lot

Just when we thought the PBA was going to be forgotten Up Stepped PDW with his Extraordinary Mindset and Prowess Live on TV. I hope some these young pros will keep the PBA alive. Now PDW joins Walter Ray Williams Jr., Mark Roth, Carmen Salvino, Marshall Hollman, Ray Bluth as Living Legends.

The one thing any of us will never be able to beat…is the clock. We all want the people we look up to, to be there forever…whether it’s our parents, musicians, athletes, or anyone who inspires people to do great things in the world. I’ve been a fan of Pete Weber since I started bowling at 13 years old in 1983, and would always get excited to see his name on the player intros during every telecast. I met Pete once at the US Open in Fountain Valley, CA and he was nothing completely cool and approachable. We spoke a few words, took a photo, and it was just a very cool experience altogether. I’ll keep following you on PBA50 Pete. I’m sure your father is looking down on you, absolutely proud.
Going to be missed, followed him and his dad…Have a safe retirement with your loverrly wife, and thanks for everything
Growing up watching Pete since the 90s, this is like seeing Superman take his cape off for the last time and walking off into the sunset.

As a high school student, I watched bowlers like Pete and Walter Ray on the PBA Tour telecast on ABC every Saturday afternoon. After I graduated in 1981, I found a local bowling league and got my first ABC membership card. 40 years later, I’m anxiously waiting to get back into the sport I love. Pete, I didn’t always appreciate your temperament, but I always appreciated your talent. Walter Ray, you showed me the importance of accuracy and consistency over emphasis on how much my ball hooks. Thank you both for saving me from the gutter…
Watching bowling and part of the sport for 35 years. It’s been an honor watching Pete compete for all these years. The game will truly miss him. One of the greatest to ever lace them up! My hats off to you, Sir! #PDW

Tennis had John McEnroe and the PBA had Pete Weber. What you saw was what you got with PDW. His competitive fire was through the roof and of course sometimes that might spill into an occasional outburst. But again, that was Pete Weber. He definitely added a lot of flare to the game and I will miss him a ton. A legend has retired and there will never be another bowler like him.
